Research Activities
Marcos’s research thesis focuses on the theoretical study of ultrashort optical vortices and space-time structured light beams at the few-cycle pulse duration limit. He develops analytical and numerical models for the generation and propagation of these beams, investigates the constraints imposed by different vortex conversion methods on broadband pulses, and studies their behaviour across different propagation environments and interaction regimes.
Biography
Marcos received a Bachelor’s degree in Energy Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Madrid in 2023, followed by a Master’s degree in Industrial Mathematics from the University Carlos III of Madrid in 2025. During his master’s studies, he collaborated with Prof. Miguel A. Porras on structured light, and subsequently joined the Nuclear Fusion Institute “Guillermo Velarde” at UPM, where he worked on laser-matter interaction of structured light in laser-based
plasmas. In October 2026, Marcos joined the OPERA Photonics Laboratory at the Universit´e libre de Bruxelles, under the supervision of Prof. Spencer W. Jolly.
